The routine task of gutter cleaning is very dangerous because it brings workers close to the perimeter of the roof. The best solution to the working at height hazard is to design a parapet wall that eliminates the risk of a fall. If this is not practicable, Workplace Access & Safety can assist with designing height safety equipment and systems including:
- Perimeter guardrail
- Fold-down guardrails that preserve building aesthetics
- Roof anchor points, static lines and harness systems
- Safe access to the roof, with stairs, fixed ladders, access hatches and walkways
- Step ladders to access work areas
- Rail system
- Static line
PROJECT | Fold-Down Guardrail: Monash University
Monash University engaged Workplace Access & Safety to install perimeter guardrail around one of their more prominent buildings. During the initial project planning, Monash University stressed the importance of retaining the aesthetics of the building, while ensuring that the height safety solution was user friendly and could support a roof with multiple serviceable assets.
PROJECT | Federation Centres Shopping Centre Access
Following an audit at this regional centre, Defender™ access equipment was installed to provide safe and efficient access to all of the gutters and air conditioners for maintenance purposes. That project was completed over a 3 week period. There were no disruptions to trading and tenants did not know the works had been completed.
